“Entertaining and cooking were really driving forces,” says Leaveck. The kitchen—command center for parties—also reflects the smart use of space that permeates the home. From the range placed against the wall to allow for a proper hood and venting, to the island housing the main sink and plenty of seating, it’s all designed for efficiency and fun. A second, full-size sink near the bar area supports party prep and cleanup. Those little vegetable sinks look nice, but they don’t get used,” Leaveck says. “Having a full second sink adds real functionality.” Appliances are thoughtfully placed: a beverage center beneath the bar, an under-counter microwave integrated into millwork, and a compact butler’s pantry with full-depth counters to keep less-used appliances out of sight.
